The people you deal with.
Williston is run by its two principals, and an owner deals with them directly.

Cole Kutschinski
Chairman
Owner relationships and origination
Cole spent seven years in senior leadership at Foundation Automotive, finishing as Senior Vice President, while the group acquired and integrated more than forty businesses across four states and Canada. He sat on the buying side of those decisions and, years later, on the selling side when the group divested some of the same businesses.
He went on to found ICOM AI, a software company serving automotive dealerships, grew it to more than two hundred clients and led its sale in 2024. He was named to the Automotive News 40 Under 40 in 2023.

Justin Theriault
Chief Investment Officer
Underwriting and financial preparation
Justin has spent a decade running the finance function of owner-led companies in trucking and construction, as Corporate Controller of the Alberta trucking company GST Logistics and of KMA Construction, and before that as Project Controller and then Financial Controller of Dahlen Construction.
He holds an undergraduate degree from McGill University and an MBA from Cornell University.
Why Williston
Our name comes from Williston Lake in northern British Columbia, the third largest man-made lake in North America and the largest body of fresh water in the province. It was made by bringing three rivers together: the valleys of the Finlay, the Parsnip and the Peace now run as one body of water, and it feeds one of the largest hydroelectric stations in the province.
The name is also personal. Both of our principals have their roots in the Peace region, where the lake sits, and both keep close ties there.
We apply the same idea to trucking.
The freight industry runs on independent, owner-run carriers. Many are excellent businesses on their own, but the buyers who pay the highest prices only look at larger carriers.
So we bring complementary carriers together. Some we buy and keep running as independent companies, each under its own name. For others we arrange a combined sale to one larger buyer, where we are not the buyer and are paid on the sale. Either way, the founder's name, people and customers are looked after.
We don't just buy companies. We build the scale larger buyers look for.
